Tipsoo Lake is at the summit of Chinook Pass and is accessible through the Naches Peak Loop Trail. On a warm afternoon, there is nothing better than taking a stroll on the Naches Peak Loop. The trail only gains 500 feet in elevation as it meanders around meadows and forests. The trail is lined with Mountain Ash and stands of subalpine fir. In September, the berries of the Mountain Ash are an intense orange-red, and the foliage is turning yellow. Indian paintbrush, lupine, harebells, and monkey flowers bend in the breeze. Naches Peak Loop comes out at upper Tipsoo Lake on Chinook Scenic Byway and continues on across the highway or down the highway itself.
